William Tuttle is the 6th great-grandfather of Lewis Way (William Tuttle, Thomas Tuttle, Esther Tuttle, Esther Russell, Samuel Way, Solomon Way, Edward Lewis Way, Hiram Lewis Way, Lewis Way).
William Tuttle was born 24 December 1607 in Ringstead, Northamptonshire, England, to Symon Tuttle and Isabel Wells. He died 16 Jun 1673 in New Haven, Connecticut. William is buried in Old Green Cemetery in New Haven. In 1630, he married in New Haven to Elizabeth Mathews, daughter of John Mathews and Elizabeth Nashe. She was born February 1607 in Exeter, Devonshire, England. She died 30 Dec 1684 in New Haven, Connecticut. They had 12 children.
William and Elizabeth came to the New World aboard the Planter in 1635.
The family resided in New Haven 4 generations, until their great-grandson David Way removed to Waterbury.
