Scituate lies between Plymouth and Boston
George Lewis is the 6th great-grandfather of Lewis Way (George Lewis, Edward Lewis,
Deacon John Lewis, Edward Lewis, Sarah Lewis, Solomon Way, Edward Lewis Way,
Hiram Lewis Way, Lewis Beathel Way).
George Lewis was born in East Greenwich, Kent, England. He died in 1662
in Barnstable, Massachusetts. Before 1623, he married Sarah Jenkins.
They had 10 children.
In Feb 1634, George Lewis was alloted the first house lot on the south side of Kent Street
in Scituate, Massachusetts. On 23 Nov 1634, he was dismissed from Plymouth
to join the church at Barnstable. In 1640, he removed from Scituate.
At that time wolves and other wild animals abounded; Indians were constantly scouring the forest for game, and their great "trail" from Yarmouth to Hyannis, now visible, passed near Mr.Lewis' house.
