David Way @ Waterbury



David Way is the 3rd great-grandfather of Lewis Way (David Way, Samuel J. Way, Solomon Way, Edward Lewis Way, Hiram Lewis Way, Lewis Beathel Way).
David Way was born on 20 June 1700 at New London, Connecticut, son of Thomas Way and Ann Lester. He died March in 1783 at Waterbury, and was buried at Northbury Church at Plymouth, Connecticut. He married at East Haven, Connecticut in 1719, to Esther Russell, born on 4 May 1699, the daughter of Samuel Russell and Esther Tuttle. She died on 10 May 1779 at Waterbury, and is also buried at Plymouth. They had 13 children.
David Way served at three different times during the French and Indian Wars. In 1755, he served from 28 April to 8 December in 1st Company 2nd Regiment under Colonel Elizur Goodrich. In 1757, he served 28 March to 11 November in 10th Company of General Lyman’s Regiment under Captain Eliphalet Whitney. In 1758, he served 13 April to 10 December in the 5th Company 1st Regiment (Connecticut Military Records).
His lands in Cheshire were divided between the heirs of Jonah Clark and David Way in 1789 with 51 acres each (Wallingford Probate 316).
